Department

• Carrie K. Bonnett, 26, of Newton was arrested for public intoxication at 2:10 a.m Thursday. She was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nicholas A. Georgou, 23, of Newton was arrested for second-degree theft at 8:44 p.m. Nov. 28. According to police reports, Georgou pawned a guitar, valued at $1,500, that was not his. He was already in jail for another incident when charged in connection with the incident.

• Randy K. Holt, 54, of Prairie City was charged with a operating while intoxicated, second offense, after being stopped by authorities at 10:47 p.m. Friday in the 700 block West Second Street South. He was released to appear.

• Ryan R. Stockstell, 39, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft at 12:32 p.m. Sunday. He was caught on surveillance video at Hy-Vee shoplifting two boxes of diapers. He was released to appear.

• Dylan J. Verwers, 17, of Monroe was charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct a 4:18 p.m. Dec. 4. The male allegedly created a disturbance by throwing cookies on the ground at Jimmy John’s. He was referred to juvenile court services.

• A 14-year-old Newton boy was charged for third-degree burglary Thursday. On Nov. 29, he allegedly stole a purse from a pizza delivery driver. The purse contained more than $500 worth of items. He was referred to juvenile court services.

• A 14-year-old was arrested for drug paraphernalia and possession of tobacco by a minor on Thursday. Police found a pipe with burnt marijuana residue in his possession. He was referred to juvenile court services.

Sheriff’s Office

• Nathan Beintema, 29, of Newton turned himself in to police Dec. 2 for a failure to appear in court.

• Nicolas C. Hartgers, 25, of Lynnville was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at 809 First St. for failure to appear in court.

• Danielle R. Ohmstede, 24, of Newton was involved in a car accident at 8:02 a.m. Thursday. Ohmstede was on her way home when she started to drift in the roadway. She lost control, and her vehicle rolled over near North 75th Avenue East. No major injuries were reported.

• Chad Veach, 31, turned himself in to police at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday on an active warrant for failure to appear in court for a revaccination hearing.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
