Hawk wrestlers earn two victories Thursday

The Lynnville-Sully wrestling team picked up two lopsided victories and narrowly missed out on a third Thursday night at a tournament in Belle Plaine.

The Hawks defeated Hardwick-Ladora-Victor by a whopping score of 78-3 and host Belle Plaine by a final of 60-24, but suffered a narrow 40-34 loss to Sigourney to wrap up the night.

“The kids wrestled well tonight going two out of three, but just couldn’t quite overcome a good Sigourney squad,” Hawks coach Steve Northcutt said. “We need to work on different things, but overall things are looking good as a team. We will continue to build on every meet and tournament so we can reach our goals at the end of the season.”
