Sowell’s column another anti-union attack

To the editor:

In last Friday’s Daily News, Thomas Sowells’ headline reads “Killing the Goose That Lays the Golden Eggs”. The goose being Hostess, the killer being the unions.

Sowell goes on to explain that unions refused to allow Twinkies and Wonder Bread be transported on the same trucks, thus creating unnecessary duplicate jobs and expense. That’s just another unjustified, dreamed up anti-union attack. With the running joke about Twinkies lasting 100 years (because of preservatives), the same cannot be said about Wonder Bread.

The same preservative that saves Twinkies taints Wonder Bread, thus requiring that, logistically, they be completely separate. No union shenanigans. Somehow though, Sowell managed to completely miss the fact that just three years ago, the unions agreed to wage concessions. Sowell should consider giving up being a shill for the anti-union crowd.
