• Natalie A. Wilson, 33, of Newton was charged with first-degree theft and on going criminal conduct for financial gain. She is charged with stealing more than $10,000 from October 2010 through July 2012. She was released to appear.
• Suzanne I. Cobbs, 39, of Newton was charged with an OWI. Officers pulled her over at 19th Street. Her speech was slurred and she failed a sobriety test. It was her first offense. She was released to appear.
• Jesse T. Lundin, 26, of Newton was charged with assault for an incident that occurred on Nov. 19. Lundin tried to push the victim of a car, while in motion, and bite her. Lundin left the scene, but was apprehended and taken to jail.
• Kennith L. Fraaken, 50, of Newton was charged with simple assault on Sunday. He was involved in a fight and refused to take a sobriety test. Fraaken was taken to jail.
• Edward G. Poe, 50, of Newton was charged with public intoxication on Sunday. He tried to get up and walk away, and refused a sobriety test. He was taken to jail.
• Bryan C. Odea, 29, of Newton was charged with driving while license barred, drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, methamphetamine with intent to deal and introduction of contraband. Officers pulled him over at 12:40 a.m. Thursday because of a loud muffler on the 700th block of East 23rd Place South. He had a pot pipe in the car while pulled over. Odea was taken to jail.
• Christopher L. Duckworth, 23, of Newton was arrested on Wednesday for failure to appear in court. He was taken to jail.
• Melissa A. Vasseau, 36, of Newton was pulled over for driving under a suspended licence and expired registration.
• Jorge A. Flores-Estrada, 25, was pulled over Wednesday in th 300th block of Memory Lane. While he was pulled over, officers found the drug Xanax in his possession. He was charged with driving with a license barred and possession of prescribed drugs.
• Phillip M. Robertson of Bellevue, Neb., was cited $15,000 for an accident involving Richard C. Gibson of Conklin, Mich. The accident occurred Nov. 23, on I-80 at the 166th mile marker. Gibson sustained $100 in damages. No one was seriously injured.
• Alexis M. Desplanque of Newton was ticketed for failure to maintain control of her vehicle. The incident took place on Friday, and involved Richard G. Temple of Newton.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
