Hawk boys begin season 1-1 over weekend

The Lynnville-Sully boys basketball team played its first two games of the season over the weekend, and both were highly competitive. The Hawks hosted and topped Keota 47-41 Friday night and fell 60-57 at Eddyville-Blakesburg on Saturday.

Against Keota, junior TJ Cunningham led L-S with 15 points and freshman Connor Cullen added nine. Against E-V, the Hawks led 46-31 after the third quarter before the Rockets outscored them 29-11 in the fourth. Four players scored in double figures for L-S, led by senior Nathan Russell’s 15 points. Cullen and Cunningham each had 11, while junior Darin Hofer added 10.
