Aquagirls’ Scotton named all-state by IGHSAU

Following a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at the 2012 Iowa Girls State Swim Meet in Marshalltown earlier this month, Newton-Colfax-Mingo-Pella sophomore Hannah Scotton has been named second-team all-state by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

All-state swimming and diving teams are based on the best time performances achieved at the state meet. The top three performances in each individual event are honored as first team all-state, and the performances with the fourth, fifth and sixth times are honored as second team all- state.

Scotton placed fifth at state Nov. 3 in a school-record time of 58.98 seconds. It was 1.21 seconds faster than the time seed time she posted at regionals one week earlier, which seeded her eighth.
