Gold buy-back returns to annual Skiff Auxiliary bake sale today

The Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary is hosting its annual Deck the Halls event today, with homemade baked goods — including pies, bars, snack mixes and more — on sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. near the gift shop in the lobby of the hospital, 204 N. Fourth Ave. E. The gift shop also will have merchandise on sale for 50 percent off.

“People look forward every year to this fundraiser,” said Connie Annis, Skiff Auxiliary president. “Since Thanksgiving follows just a few days later, it’s a chance to have additional delicious homemade items at your holiday table without extra time spent in the kitchen. And every dollar we raise goes back toward Skiff’s patients.”

At this year’s Deck the Halls event, Paul Mattingly of Mattingly Music & Books will have a table to purchase old, broken and unwanted gold and silver jewelry or coins. Items will be paid upon weight and karat of the item. It is recommended that interested individuals have their jewelry appraised elsewhere prior to the event so they will have a quote to compare.

In addition, Skiff Hospice will be on site selling their cookbook, “Monarch Memories” and Christmas ornaments. Money raised at the hospice table will go directly back to that department.
