The Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce still is looking for a few good entries into the 2012 Lighted Christmas Parade, which will make its way through the downtown area shortly after 6 p.m. next Friday, Nov. 23.

“We only have about seven or eight (entries),” said Darrell Sarmento, executive director of the Chamber. “It’s usually never as long as the Fourth of July parade but usually by the time push comes to shove, it usually gets up to about 20 or 25.”

The theme of this year’s parade is “Christmas On the Silver Screen,” and entries already have claimed such famous holiday movies as “A Christmas Story,” “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” and “Shrek the Halls.”

Parade registrations can be obtained online at www.experiencenewton.com or by calling the Chamber at (641) 792-5545, and will be accepted through the end of the business day on Tuesday. Sarmento asks that a $5 donation be given with each entry “to help us with the costs.”
