Jasper Conservation Connection hosted its fifth annual photo contest this year, soliciting images by amateur photographers of wildlife, parks, landscapes and people enjoying the outdoors.

Rachel Summers won first place for “A Mother’s Work is Never Done.” Second place went to Barbara Van Zante for “Rubythroat,” and third place went to Angie Ver Ploeg for “Father and Son Fishing.”

The winners received gift cards from Beckman’s Gallery and Mattingly’s Music and Books and a free camping voucher for Jasper County’s campgrounds, along with Jasper Conservation Connection canvas tote bags.

Honorable mention and a JCC canvas bag also went to the following photographers for their pictures: Norm Van Klompenburg, Scott Fairbairn, Elaine Mattingly, Barbara Van Zante and Lori Lopez-Sanders.

The photographs will be featured on Jasper County’s website and in the winter issue of The Jasper County Jewel newsletter. Blank greeting cards from last year’s contest are still for sale at the Jasper County Conservation Office.
