Veterans Gerald Lohman, Jack Myers, Dennis Wilson and Laird Deppe, all of Rock Creek, chat over coffee at the Hy-Vee Veterans’ Day breakfast on Monday morning. Veterans and their spouses were invited for a free hot breakfast in honor of their service. More than 600 veterans attended the event this year, each placing pins on a world map indicating where they each had served. In addition to hosting veterans for breakfast, Hy-Vee held a flag-folding ceremony as a means to honor the flag as well as veterans no longer with us.
