Edward Ronald Gilkison Sr.

Edward Ronald Gilkison Sr., 71, of Colfax died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials in Ed’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Ed, the son of Harry John and Darlene Leona (McDonald) Gilkison, was born on May 24, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up in Newton. Ed was united in marriage with Lois Marie Seiberling on April 6, 1960, in Newton. He was a crane operator for Bailey Roofing Co. for 15 years, retiring in December of 1997. Ed was a member of the Local 234 and Local 142. He enjoyed fishing, riding horses, roller skating, motorcycles and camping. He and Lois had lived in Colfax for 16 years.
