Downtown Christmas Open House this weekend

The holidays are right around the corner, and Newton businesses want to help you get into the spirit of the season with this weekend’s Downtown Christmas Open House.

The annual event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Businesses will be decorated and many will feature special treats and sales as patrons explore the seasonal offerings. Free horse drawn carriage rides courtesy of Park Centre and Newton Village will be available, as well as the Iowa Speedway Pace Car. Good little boys and girls also will have an opportunity to tell Santa what they want for Christmas, as he is rumored to attend the event both days.
