Skiff Medical Center to host stroke lunch and learn Tuesday

Stroke is the No. 4 cause of death and the leading cause of adult disability in the United States. It attacks about 795,000 Americans each year and kills more than 137,000 of them.

Two important pieces in the battle against stroke-related death and disability are becoming familiar with reversible risk factors, as well as knowing what to do when a stroke is already occurring.

To help educate the public in both of these areas, Skiff Medical Center will host a lunch and learn about stroke at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Skiff Inservice Room. The panel of experts who will be presenting include Dr. Tariq Mallick, emergency room physician and medical director at Skiff Medical Center; physical therapist Jayne Goos; occupational therapist Mary Loe; and speech therapist Emily Meier.
