Capitol II to reopen Friday with ‘Looper,’ ‘Here Comes the Boom’
The Capitol II Theater in Newton is undergoing minor renovations this week in preparation for its Friday reopening.
Since its closure on Sept. 12, the theater’s ownership has changed hands from former parent company Big Time Cinema to local couple Dawn and Paul Bleeker. Now that it’s locally owned and the Bleekers have total control over all the decisions, changes are in works to revamp the movie theater.
All throughout the weekend and last several days, the Bleekers have been busy putting a fresh coat of paint in the lobby, and local business are set to professionally clean the carpets and seats before the first movies — “Here Comes the Boom” and “Looper” — begin showings at 7:10 and 7 p.m. on Friday, respectively.
