• Angela M. Dreesman, 41, of Grinnell was charged with operating while intoxicated at 1:21 a.m. Wednesday after officers discovered her vehicle in the 1400 block of North Eighth Avenue Place East. Dreesman failed the sobriety test and registered a BAC of .243. She had struck a tree at the entrance of Maytag Park and had fallen asleep. Damage to her vehicle was estimated at $1,500, and damage to the tree was estimated at $100. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Olivia J. Doonan, 15, of Newton was charged with criminal mischief after officers were called to Aurora Heights Park at 9:19 p.m. Oct. 16 for a fight in progress. Doonan allegedly kicked a vehicle, causing an estimated $100 damage. She was referred to juvenile authorities.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
