Five arrested in Tuesday night drug bust
According to a press release from Lt. Aaron Groves of the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, five people were arrested Tuesday night as the result of the execution of a search warrant and raid on a home on Newton's west side.
"The MINE Task Force executed the search warrant in response to numerous complaints of drug activity and information regarding guns being used/displayed in and around the residence by multiple individuals," Groves said. "The Jasper County Sheriff's Office SERT Team and Newton Police Department's tactical team assisted with the execution of the search warrant."
Numerous drug related items were reportedly found inside the residence at 1502 N. Second Ave. W. in Newton at approximately 10:05 p.m. Tuesday. In addition to methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills and assorted drug paraphernalia, officers also confiscated additional materials that are now awaiting chemical analysis at the Division of Criminal Investigation Lab in Ankeny.
