Iowa Speedway unveils 2013 supporting races

Officials at Iowa Speedway in Newton released the line-up of supporting events to enhance each of five major race weekends in the track’s 2013 season, which was announced earlier in September.

The popular NASCAR K&N Pro Series ‘East vs. West’ division clash will return as a Friday evening preface to the two Saturday NASCAR Nationwide Series headliners, the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 weekend on June 7–8, and the US Cellular 250 presented by The Enlist Weed Control System weekend on Aug. 2–3.

The Firestone Indy Lights Series will again return to the Rusty Wallace-designed track in support of the seventh annual Iowa Corn Indy 250 weekend, slated for Saturday and Sunday, June 22–23. And the versatile ARCA Racing Series stock cars will kick off the final race weekend of the season, with the Prairie Meadows 150 on Saturday, Sept. 7 in support of the Sunday afternoon, Sept. 8, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 200-lapper.

The newest addition to the wide variety of motorsports entertainment at Iowa Speedway is the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals, an endurance oval track racing series for ‘IMCA-type’ stock cars. Staging a 100 lap contest on the track’s fast 7/8-mile tri-oval on Friday evening, July 12, the series will feature ‘street stock’ racecars in a unique preliminary to the first NASCAR Truck race of the season on Saturday evening, July 13.

“We’re really excited about this strong line-up of supporting race events for our 2013 season,” said Iowa Speedway president Stan Clement. “And we’re especially enthused about welcoming the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals to our ‘family’ of events next year. The supporting events we have secured for 2013 work very well with our roster of major events, and definitely enhance our Season Ticket package.”

Season tickets for Iowa Speedway’s eighth annual racing season in 2013 start at $129, and are currently on sale for renewals as well as for new season ticket holders.
