Vote for Loebsack to ensure Iowa’s world class education

To the editor:

With all the talk this election cycle about cutting spending to lessen or nation’s debt, I feel compelled to speak out about one thing in particular that Republicans are chomping at the bit to cut: our education.

We don’t need a partisan battle to ensure that our kids are educated next year and into the next generation. We just need someone who will stand up to protect our Iowan values of world-class education so everyone has the opportunity to succeed in our great state.

Only one candidate this November understands that any cuts to education funding are a guaranteed chokehold on our kids’ futures. Dave Loebsack, as a member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, has the power to make sure Iowans keep getting a world-class education.

I read that Dave grew up in poverty and that he credits his Iowa public education for getting him where he is today. Dave earned his American dream right at home in Iowa and he wants to make sure every Iowan has the same opportunity he did.

While much of the talk this election has been about jobs, our economic recovery and fair taxes, we can’t let education take a backseat for our children. That’s why we need Dave. I urge you to join me in voting to re-elect Dave Loebsack on Nov. 6.
