To the editor:
Nov. 6, all registered voters in Jasper County will have the opportunity to elect a new sheriff. I hope everyone will take the time to do some research on who will be the best leader for our county law enforcement. After comparing the two candidates, it becomes obvious that Steve Hoffman is the right choice.
During his 21-year career in law enforcement, Steve Hoffman has excelled in every area. He is a born leader and has the administrative and management skills necessary to bring our Sheriff’s Office up to the highest standards.
His experience working in an internationally accredited law enforcement agency has given him the foundation to mold the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office into the premier law enforcement agency that the residents of Jasper County deserve.
In order to be an effective sheriff, there are a multitude of areas where he or she must be proficient. Management and administrative skills are of paramount importance. This is where the similarities in the candidates end and the choice to elect Steve Hoffman becomes most obvious.
Steve’s administrative skills and management practices are second to none. His business-like approach to managing the jail has produced revenue like has never been seen here in Jasper County. Through his marketing of the jail, Steve has had average annual revenue of more than $1 million. As a taxpayer, this is the type of leadership we need in Jasper County.
When Steve made the decision to run for sheriff, he asked if I would co-chair his campaign committee and I gladly accepted. With Steve’s management and business perspective, along with his work ethic, leadership and true integrity, I knew that he was the man Jasper County needed as its sheriff.
