Iowa author to sign books at Choices

Iowa author David Kovach will sign copies of his first book, “Five Days of Fear,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Choices Bookstore, 101 W. Second St. N. in Newton.

A Christian suspense novel, “Five Days of Fear” presents the reality of a post-911 America, a reality that affects even the most normal families like the Brittons. During a family picnic, Jessica Britton’s well-ordered world is slammed against a brutal reality and her faith is tested when her mom is kidnapped, her dad is shot and authorities can find no clues to begin their investigation. Jessica’s own anxiety and fear for her mother’s life compels her to help FBI Agent Dan Hamilton look for motives and clues that would lead to rescuing her mom. By chance, clues begin to emerge, and the once floundering investigation speeds to a hectic race against time and criminal minds, culminating in a desperate attempt in Des Moines to save Jessica’s mom by capturing the terrorist who threatens the lives of many in San Francisco’s business district.

Kovach’s debut novel has been met with enthusiasm from Iowa booksellers. Published by Light Messages Publishing, the book will be released for sale on Nov. 9.

Born and raised in California, Kovach has a love for San Francisco. After a stint in the Air Force, he received his education at Cal Poly, S.L.O. and University of California (Davis), where he met his wife, Karen. They have two children, Scott and Jen, now grown, and moved to Iowa, where Kovach asserts that, while the topography is part of the Great Plains, the people are anything but plain.

Kovach currently is working on his next novel, which will take readers on a chase that culminates in New York City.
