Ruth Kling

Ruth Kling, 91, of Ankeny passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Ankeny Funeral Home 1510 W. First Street, Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Edna Ruth Kling was born February 4, 1921 in Delta, Iowa to John Clayton and Jennie (Hamilton) Cook. She grew up in Jasper County and graduated from Newton High School in 1938. On August 14, 1945 Ruth was united in marriage to John Philip Kling in Newton, Iowa. The couple was blessed with six children.

Ruth and Phil loved to travel all around central Iowa to various dance halls. She was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Ruth was an avid reader and also enjoyed word search puzzles, her pets, photography, and the changing of seasons in Iowa. Mostly she loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.

Survivors include her children, Sally Ann Kling, Peggy Jean Klinge, Jennie Mae (Mark) Anderson, Clayton Philip (Deborah) Kling, and Vickie Lee (James) Roach; 13 grandchildren; 31 2/3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil in 2010; parents; son, Bill Kling; and brothers, Willis Cook and Bob Cook.
