Veteran endorses Archer for House

To the editor:

As a veteran I am concerned about the current state of the military and the direction it is headed.  The military is using equipment that is outdated and ineffective. This leads to great safety concerns for our soldiers currently in battle.

There needs to be investment in our military to ensure that our brave men and women on the battle field have the very best technology and equipment so they can complete their mission as safely and as effectively as possible.

Rep. Dave Loebsack simply does not understand this. He wants to cut military funding, which could put our soldiers at significant risk. That is what will happen if he gets his way.

But that is not all. Because of Congressman Loebsack’s lack of leadership, the military also faces the severity of sequestration at the end of the year. The sequestration would cut $500 billion on top of the $500 billion that was previously cut as a part of a deficit reduction package.

That is a total of $1 trillion in defense cuts over the next decade. Above all, he has the arrogance to say we should end the war in Afghanistan right away.

John Archer understands the he does not know everything and is willing to defer to the military personal that knows the situation the best. Because he will not go to Washington to micromanage, but is prepared to fully fund the military, I will be voting for his leadership over Dave Loebsack’s lack of leadership.
