Larry B. Ballard, 63, of Newton died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home. Memorials in Larry’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Larry, the son of Orville and Bonnie (Campbell) Ballard, was born on Dec. 10, 1948, in Des Moines.  He grew up in Ames and graduated from Ames High School.  Larry served his country in the U.S. Navy. Larry was united in marriage with Phyllis Arlene McWhirter on June 27, 1980, in Newton.  They made their home in Newton. Larry had been retired for many years.
