Newton PTA Council donates to Newton schools

Newton PTA Council President Tammy Chance presents Scott Garvis, assistant principal and athletic activities director at Newton Senior High School, with a check for $10,831 for Newton schools. The funds have been earmarked for new soccer goals and nets at Thomas Jefferson and Berg elementaries, a beautification project at Berg, digital and art supplies for a Berg Elementary art teacher, literacy, scholarships, After Prom and to allow students from Aurora Heights and Woodrow Wilson attend a performance of the Des Moines Youth Symphony at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. Newton PTA Council members raised the funds for local schools through concession stand sales and its used book sale.
