To the editor:

As a Jasper County teacher and coach, I firmly believe investing whole-heartedly in our youth is of paramount importance. They are our most valuable resource, as well as our future. Without question, John Halferty realizes this — as evidenced through his leadership, professional experience, family values, morals, ethics and tireless volunteerism to his community.

John’s passion for our youth is reflected through his church involvement, tenure as a volunteer high school football coach, and in the course of nearly 25 years of decorated law enforcement service. It has been my distinct pleasure coaching alongside John, and I have seen firsthand his dedication as a peace officer, firefighter, coach, mentor, father and friend. Young people look up to and admire John. He is honest, friendly, fair, intelligent, hard-working, loyal, articulate and caring. Adults and peers mirror this respect.

In my humble opinion, there is no finer candidate than John to be elected as the next Sheriff of Jasper County. Please join me in fully supporting John Halferty, a tremendous man who will lead our county with bravery, character, honor, experience and commitment to our youth.
