Hawks look to win fifth straight on Friday

Sure, the Lynnville-Sully football team was heavily favored in its last three games — all blowout victories — but that doesn't mean those wins should be overlooked.

The Hawks (5-2, 4-1 Class A District 6) more than took care of business in all three, winning by scores of 61-0 over Southeast Warren (0-7), 70-0 over Pleasantville (1-6) and 49-0 over North Mahaska (1-7).
It could be more of the same this week, as Lynnville-Sully plays at English Valleys (2-6). A win would set up a winner-take-all for the district championship against Montezuma (6-1, 5-0) next week in Sully.

Hawks junior Bailee Samson will be looking for his fifth-straight game with at least 100 yards rushing, while fellow junior running back Caden Doll is coming off a four-touchdown performance last week. Samson now has rushed for 808 yards this season on only 80 carries — a 10.1 yards per carry average — with 10 touchdowns.
