Six Jasper County farms were recognized in August for earning either Century or Heritage Farm distinction at the Iowa State Fair. Red denotes the Heritage Farm honorees, while yellow designates families receiving Century Farm awards. Century and Heritage Farm certificates are awarded to families who have owned and worked farms for 100 or 150 years, respectively. The program, which has honored farm families since 1976, is spearheaded by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
