Mustang volleyball snaps skid with sweep of Saydel

The Prairie City-Monroe volleyball team ended a three-match losing streak on Tuesday, and also kept its Heart of Iowa Conference record even in the process.

Behind a double-double by senior Alex Samson, the Mustangs (6-11, 3-3) earned a 3-0 home sweep of Saydel with just three regular-season matches and a tournament remaining on the schedule.

Samson recorded 10 kills and 11 assists to lead the Mustangs to the victory, adding four digs, four blocks and a perfect 16-for-16 serving night.

Junior Abbi Gilson was second on the team with seven kills, seven assists and an additional four blocks. Senior Kelsey Townsend was third on the team in kills with five, while fellow senior Kaitlynn Wilkie led the team with six digs. As a team, PCM went 66-for-76 from the service line, which included a 17-for-18 night from Taylor Davenport.
