Culver’s promotions to benefit the Pink Ribbon Support Group

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Culver’s, in conjunction with the Pink Ribbon Support Group and the Jasper County Pork Producers, is sponsoring a number of fundraisers for breast cancer awareness and the cancer clinic at Skiff Medical Center.

On Saturday, Oct. 13, 10 percent of all proceeds at Culver’s restaurant will go toward the Pink Ribbon Support Group. Carol Hopke, with Pink Ribbon said last year’s proceeds were used to purchase two chemotherapy treatment chairs at Skiff Medical Center. This year, funds will be used to fill a wish list at the cancer treatment center at Skiff.

Brian Smith, manager of Newton Culver’s, said that in addition to the 10 percent day at the restaurant, pork specials will be featured all month long. Anyone who orders bacon, 50 cents will be donated to the Pink Ribbon Support, and all money raised will be matched by the Iowa Pork Producers.

In addition, Smith said he is expecting a shipment of cups at the restaurant that will be sold for $7 each, with proceeds going to the Pink Ribbon group, as well. Purchasers will be able to use the cups for free soda or tea throughout the month of October.

“Our goal is $5,000, and this is such a great way to show our support for the Pink Ribbon Support group, and to get the Pork Producers involved as well,” Smith said.
