Charley H. Sutton, 61, of Newton died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at the Skiff Medical Center under the care of Skiff Hospice.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, officiated by Rev. Merle E. Smith of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.      

The family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at the funeral home.  

Memorials to Blank Children’s Hospital, or Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Sutton Family on the envelope.

Survivors include his wife, Karla of Newton; daughter, Anna Sutton of Mitchellville; son, Mason Sutton of Newton; his brother, Doug (Carla) Sutton of Newton; his sister, Cindy (Bruce) Matsen of Newton; nephews, Doug S. Sutton, Cory (Gretchen) Sutton and Nick (Suzanne) Matsen; great-niece and nephews, Zack and Hailey Sutton and Scott and Reed Matsen; his brother-in-law, J. J. (Angie) Howrey and their sons, Preston and Kolton, many aunts, uncles, cousins and many in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore L. “Ted” and Hazel I. (Binegar) Sutton; grandparents, aunts, uncles and many close friends.
