2013 dog, cat licenses available at Newton Police Department

Pet owners are being reminded that 2013 dog and cat licenses must be purchased by March 29, 2013, to avoid a late fee of $20.

Licenses are available at the Newton Police Department from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The license fee for altered dogs and/or cats is $15. The license fee for unaltered dogs and/or cats is $25.  Pet owners can receive a civil penalty fine of up to $150 for not having their pet licensed.

Residents need to bring proof of current rabies vaccinations for their pets when purchasing the license.  The Newton Police Department does not accept debit or credit cards and is only accepting cash or checks at this time.
