• Ashley A. Archer, 27, of Newton was charged with operating while intoxicated (first offense) at 1:23 a.m. Sunday when her vehicle was stopped for no headlights in the 500 block of North Second Avenue West. Archer failed the sobriety test and registered a blood alcohol level of .174. She was released to appear.

• Chad E. Berry, 30, of Newton was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for allegedly kicking in a door at 1501 N. Second Ave. W. at 2:23 a.m. Wednesday. Berry was located later at 703 E. 21st St. Pl. E. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Ryan M. Cormeny, 19, of Newton was charged with driving with a suspended license after his vehicle was stopped for speeding at 11:24 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of First Avenue East. He also was cited for speeding and released to appear.

• Joshua L. Hellickson, 28, of Newton was arrested at 10:38 p.m. Sept. 25 at his residence at 207 S. 15th Ave. W. on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear for a show cause hearing on an original charge of failure to pay child support. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nicholas H. Klingensmith Jr., 45, of Newton was charged with simple assault at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of South Fifth Avenue East for threatening a male victim with his fists, causing the victim to fear of bodily harm. He was released to appear.

• Officers were called to assist with a Department of Human Services incident at 714 First St. S. at 4:28 p.m. Thursday. During the assist, officers found drug paraphernalia, including a water bong with marijuana residue, and charged Brandon L. Keller, 19, of Newton and Sammy T. Anderson, 19, of Newton with possession of drug paraphernalia. Anderson also was wanted on a Marion County warrant for failure to appear on a theft charge. He was transported to the Marion County line and transferred to Marion County officials. Keller was released to appear.

• Ronald E. Winchell Jr., 34, of Newton was charged with public intoxication at 1:04 a.m. Saturday after officers were called to the 200 block of West Second Street North in reference to a fight in progress in the alley. Winchell failed the sobriety test and registered a blood alcohol level of .118. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jerry W. Cunningham, 32, of Iowa Falls was transferred to the Jasper County Jail by Hardin County officials at 8:33 p.m. Sunday after he was picked up on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear for a review hearing regarding child support.

• Austin C. Frauscht, 18, of Grinnell was charged with possession of alcohol underage at 8:59 p.m. Saturday after he was found in possession of beer at 3718 Jersey St. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Allyson M. Krumm, 21, of Kellogg was charged with operating while intoxicated (first offense) at 1:49 a.m. Saturday after her vehicle was stopped for speeding in the 14600 block of Highway 6 East. She failed the field sobriety test and registered a blood alcohol level of .092. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
