NPD conducts Safety City

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

Each year the Newton Police Department offers Safety City — a miniature city with streets, crosswalks, stop signs, traffic signals and buildings that allows students to experience various traffic situations in a safe and protected manner — for all kindergarten students.

The program teaches kindergarten children how to properly cross the street by remembering three key words, “Stop, Look and Listen,” as well as other safety tips.

Safety City for 2012 was on Sept. 17 to 19 at Aurora Heights Park with approximately 287 attending from Berg Elementary, Newton Christian, Thomas Jefferson and Colfax-Mingo schools.
