Don’t vote for yourself, vote for future generations

Your vote on Nov. 6 will help determine the direction this country will take for the next four years. History tells us that we are better off than our parents and we want our children to be even more successful.

However, what has happened the past four years is reason for concern. For example:

• There is a record number of people on food stamps, and that number is increasing;

• The national debt has increased by $6 trillion;

• Unemployment and under-employment remains above 8 percent; and

• The average annual income has been reduced by 4 percent.

Seniors older than 65 also have reason for concern. In order to pay for President Obama’s health care plan, $716 billion was taken from the Social Security Trust Fund. Guess what? Those on Social Security will make up the shortfall through increased premiums and reduced benefits, putting more seniors on food stamps.

Based on the record of the past four years, we cannot afford another four years of the same or worse.

When going to the polls Nov. 6, don’t vote for what is best for you, but rather what is in the best interests of your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and you will make the right decision. For me, that means voting Republican.
