Swersie picks up key endorsements

House District 29 GOP candidate Gabe Swersie recently picked up two key endorsements in his run for the Statehouse.

Iowa Family PAC, a conservative political action committee closely affiliated with The Family Leader, announced their support for the Newton native based on his “proven ability to lead and stand firm for constitutional, conservative, pro-family principles.” Chuck Hurley, chairman of Iowa Family PAC, said the qualifications for endorsement include a “belief that society and government work best when citizens adopt a high level of personal responsibility and that the only way our nation can reclaim a God-honoring culture is to defend strong families.”

Other key qualifications for an Iowa Family PAC endorsement include “protection of life from conception to natural death,” “the belief that marriage is a permanent, lifelong commitment between one man and one woman,” and belief that “the duty of parents to oversee the education of their children and that an ethical free enterprise system is consistent with the biblical notion of stewardship.”

“The Iowa Family PAC is happy to endorse Gabe Swersie, a godly man of faith, whose worldview is consistent with Judeo-Christian principles and who will boldly defend and honor issues relating to the family,” Hurley said. “Gabe understands the values of his district and will work hard to champion pro-family values of Iowans in his district We will be praying diligently between now and Nov. 6 for Gabe Swersie and his family.”

Following closely behind the Iowa Family PAC endorsement was another from the National Federation of Independent Business. NFIB Iowa State Director Kristin Kunert said Swersie had a “strong stance on small business issues critical to Main Street.”

She said NFIB endorsements come from its political action committee, Save America’s Free Enterprise, and are based on candidates’ positions and records on small business issues. NFIB represents thousands of small, independent business owners across Iowa.

“NFIB is proud to endorse Gabe Swersie because he has a clear understanding of the needs of small business owners,” Kunert said. “He understands the importance of protecting their rights as well as fighting to keep unnecessary regulations from adding to the burden of running a successful business.”
