Velta Davies

Velta Davies, 86, of Baxter, went home to be with her Lord peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at Heritage Word of Life Assembly of God , 102 Second St., Mitchellville, IA. Pastor David Rex will be officiating. A private family burial will take place at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. The family invites friends for fellowship and refreshments following the memorial service at the Mingo Community Building in Mingo, Iowa.

Velta was born on Oct. 13, 1925, to William  and Lula (Russell) Hopkins in Malcom, Iowa. She attended school in Malcom and following school Velta worked in Newton helping the World War ll effort. After the war was over she met and married Raymond Davies. The young couple resided in Newton until 1960 when the family relocated to Baxter. Velta was a member of Newton’s Assembly of God, Heritage Word of Life Assembly of God, and Mingo’s Women’s Auxiliary Legion.
