Capitol II managers hope to purchase theater, held up by bankruptcy proceedings

The Capitol II Theater may be closed for now, but don’t count it out completely.

The theater was forced to close its doors Sept. 12 after its parent company, Big Time Cinema, filed for bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western District of Missouri on Aug. 31.

Capitol II manager Dawn Bleeker and her husband, Paul, said they were considering purchasing the theater, but can’t make any decisions while the case is in bankruptcy proceedings. In order to be financially viable, the theater should be open by the first part of November, Bleeker said, to take advantage of the most critical time for movie attendance.
