Jasper County

Sheriff’s Office

• On Sept. 12, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Colfax Police Department, conducted an investigation into a subject obtaining medical services and medications under false information. The subject had arranged an appointment with medical staff at the Colfax Clinic in Colfax. The staff became suspicious after information the subject provided appeared to be false.

The subject, identified as Jeffrey Todd Miller, 52, of Ft. Collins, Colo., was contacted at the Colfax Clinic on Sept. 12. During the investigation, it was determined that Miller was providing false information when obtaining services and medication.

Miller was charged with five counts of prohibited acts — false pretenses, a serious misdemeanor. Miller was transported to the Jasper County Jail, where he later bonded out. The investigation is ongoing.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
