Helen M. DeHaai
Helen M. DeHaai, 90, of Monroe died peacefully Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at the Jewish Senior Life Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Monroe, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The daughter of John and Rachel (Brown) Shaffer, Helen was born on May 17, 1922, in Reasnor, Iowa. On Dec. 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Dick F. DeHaai at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church of which she was a member. Helen and Dick faithfully attended the Monroe Baptist Church for many years. Helen enjoyed baking, sewing and working in the garden.
