Toreadors run past Cardinals in second half
BOONE — At halftime, it appeared that the Newton football team was going to hang right with undefeated Boone and have a good chance at picking up its first victory of the season. Down just 7-6 at the break, the Cardinals were going toe-to-toe with the Toreadors.
But things got ugly soon after that.
Boone erupted for 27 points in the second half while shutting out Newton the rest of the way to drop the Cardinals to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in Class 3A District 4 to make for an extra long 74-mile bus trip back home.
