After delays, Raceway Cafe to open Friday

Hal “Sned” Snedeker was hoping that he could do a quick cleaning of the foreclosed Raceway Cafe and open the bar/restaurant in a couple of weeks. That was at the end of May, but a few unforeseen items got in the way. Now, however, the place is spruced up, cleaned up and ready for business. The cafe will be open and ready for fun on Friday.

“I didn’t want to open until everything was right,” Snedeker said.

He has had to install new wiring, new plumbing and all new kitchen equipment. He’s painted the place inside and out, done some deep cleaning, including four days spent cleaning the smoke residue off the ceiling, and despite the delays, Snedeker said he’s still ready to make the Raceway a place that will inject some fun into the Newton restaurant scene.
