Newton volleyball goes 3-2 at Thursday tourney

In the Newton volleyball team's second tournament of the season, it had pretty similar results to its first.

The Cardinals (7-4) scored victories over Perry, Interstate 35 and West Central Valley, but dropped another close match to host Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and was swept by Knoxville to earn a 3-2 record for the day.
Newton's most lopsided victory of the day came against I-35, whom the Cardinals swept 21-6, 21-9. The match was also a good indication of the type of night the team would have serving, as Newton went 40-for-41.

The second sweep came against West Central Valley, with the Cards taking it by a final of 21-13, 21-14. Bleeker led the team with eight kills, while junior Amber Karsten had a team-high eight digs.
