Geraldine “Gerry” Meredith, 85, of Newton died on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4,at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with burial in the Slagle Cemetery near Newton. The family will be present at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. Gerry was born on February 26, 1927, in Elliott, Iowa to Samuel and Gertrude Mick Stennett.  She was raised in Elliott and graduated from Elliott High School with the Class of 1944.
