Nicholas Klingensmith Sr., 65, of Newton died on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Nick wished to be cremated and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nick’s name may be left or mailed to the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Nick, the son of Forrest and Betty (Gardner) Klingensmith, was born on Sept. 21, 1946, in Albia. His family moved to Newton in 1951. Nick had worked for Winpower and most recently at Rick’s Amoco in Newton. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars, puzzles and watching wildlife.

Those left to honor Nick’s memory are his son, Eric Klingensmith (Jennifer Mouchka) of Newton; three grandchildren, Cragar, Zachary and Kristin Klingensmith; his mother, Betty Klingensmith; siblings, Judy (Dean) Raffety, Beverly (Mike) Taber, Jeanne (Rod) Brouwer and Denny (Lori) Klingensmith, all of Newton; Nick and Eric’s mother, Kathi Klingensmith of Newton; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Klingensmith; a nephew, Jay Taber; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
