Remember the old phrase, “Don’t quit your day job,” most often suggested to those with little talent? More than 40 years ago, it would seem, Bill Gaither never listened — or, more likely, no one ever made the suggestion.

Seven Grammy awards are certainly a testament to the former school teacher’s prowess as a gospel musician.

Saturday, Sept. 8, fans of Gaither and the world-class talent he brings in the Gaither Vocal Band will get more than just a sampling at First Federated Church in Des Moines. Tickets are now on sale for the 6 p.m. concert.
