Local hand bell ensemble to perform Sunday at St. Luke UMC
“Tintinnabulation,” a Jasper County community hand bell ensemble, will perform Sunday at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Newton during the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services.
The public is invited to hear the group, which debuted in December and provides entertainment for the Jasper County Museum’s Christmas Open House. The ensemble uses hand bells originally used at the Jasper County Care Facility until it closed in 2000.
The word “tintinnabulation” means “the sound and ringing of bells.” The group is directed by Glenda Duffus. Performers for the St. Luke services will be Val McKee, Linda Kirchhoff, Sandy Prendergast, Kim Heimann, Sue Smith, Rose Evans and Carolyn Cook-Barr.
