Monroe Kiwanis raises $10,000 for park
The Monroe Kiwanis recently presented a check for $10,000 to the Monroe Recreation Park to be used toward the completion of the concession stand. James Breckenridge, on behalf of the Monroe Kiwanis, drafted and submitted a Special Needs Grant application to the United Way of Jasper County last fall. The Kiwanis group was awarded the maximum amount of $5,000, which the Kiwanis members agreed to match with fundraising dollars. At the July evening meeting, Breckenridge presented a check to the Monroe Recreation Park, which was accepted by board member, Dan Wood.
