New company plans up to 35 new jobs for Newton

The Newton Development Corporation, Jasper County Economic Development Corporation and Birkenholz Realty have teamed up to bring a new business to Newton that promises to provide up to 35 new manufacturing jobs.

Pace Manufacturing, a division of Atlas Hydraulics Inc. headquartered in Sioux Falls, S.D., has purchased the east 25,000- square-foot warehouse at 1801 N. 19th Ave. E., formerly occupied by Alpha Products. Pace Manufacturing will provide up to 35 new jobs initially manufacturing hydraulic hoses for sale to farm equipment companies throughout the Midwest, such as John Deere. JEDCO Director Chaz Allen said the past week has been hectic while they closed the deal.

“I’m excited to get this one,” Allen said. “This is a great company.”
