To meet long-term needs, city needs aid of tech professional
Technology is important to all our daily lives, whether we like it or not. And technology, unfortunately, slows down for no one.
That’s why we support Newton City Administrator Bob Knabel’s recommendation to hire a full-time Internet technology systems administrator for the city. As he stated at Wednesday night’s Employee Relations Committee meeting, it is a vital position to any 21st century organization.
But we also understand and appreciate the city council’s concern for meeting the city’s needs with limited resources. The roughly $70,000 per year it would cost to hire an IT professional could go a long way toward purchasing necessary hardware and software upgrades for the City of Newton’s 60-computer network.
