Twyner surrenders medical license
An embattled Newton physician will no longer be practicing medicine in the State of Iowa after surrendering his medical license to the Iowa Board of Medicine late last week.
In a ruling handed down by the Iowa Board of Medicine on Wednesday morning, Dr. Lafayette J. Twyner signed onto a settlement agreement earlier this month. The agreement was approved by the board last Thursday.
As part of the agreement, he voluntarily surrendered his license, waiving his right to a contested-case hearing. He also must pay a $10,000 civil penalty.
